Celebrate with Cupcakes

Are you ready for another Through the Craft Room Door challenge?!? Anything goes this week. Our sponsor is Paola Jofre
Here's the card I created using the Celebration Cupcake digi.

I colored the Cupcake with watercolor pencils.

To create the shiny textured frosting I used GooseBumps Clear Texture Spray.
This was the first time I had used this product.  I really like the look it gives the frosting. I can't wait to try this out on more projects in the future.

I printed two copies of the Cupcake digi and cut the wrapper off one so that I could trace it on the pretty stripped paper. I fussy cut the traced wrapper and attached it to the colored cupcake.

Organizing My Days With The Cutting Cafe

This week at The Cutting Cafe, the design team is using the
2015 Calendar Printable Set and the 2015 Calendar Day Sets for our projects. I chose to use the
2015 Calendar Day Set. I had been looking everywhere for a calendar like this...when it dawned on me to ask Regina if she would be willing to make it for me. I was so excited when she told me she had it done.
I am hoping that I can better organize my days/time with this calendar.
I have already made a place for it on my desk marked with  holidays, birthdays, appointments and other important days.

Thank you, Regina, for making this file! It is exactly what I had in mind! I will be using this every day.

Remember to stop by The Cutting Cafe on the 7th and 21st of every month. If you leave a comment on the inspirational post you will be entered in a chance to win 3 free sets of your choice.

Have a great day! Thank you for Stopping by Toadally Love To Craft. Happy Crafting!

Phyllis the Fairy Card

Hi everyone!  I am super excited about today's post. Today, I am posting my first project as a Design Team member for Through the Craft Room Door .

I LOVE this image! I woke up in the middle of the night thinking of  Phyllis the Festive Fairy...
She looks a lot like my Grandma. Take a look...

This is a picture of my Grandma and my Dad. It's my favorite picture of them.
So, was I right or what?!? My Grandma's name was Phyllis too.

I colored Phyllis with watercolor pencils. Once I was done coloring I added purple Stickels to her dress and drew a design on her wings with a Ranger Medium Pen. I put embossing powder over the wet ink and used my heat tool to melt the powder. The flourishes were cut with a Cuttle Bug and Sizzix dies.

I purchased this star ribbon at my favorite local craft store...Stamp Cashe. I knew it would be perfect for this card. I sprayed the ribbon with Recollections Yellow Shimmer Spray Ink, let it dry and then put yellow Stickels on it.

Altered Composition Notebook

Can you believe that this notebook once looked like this...?

I'm going to walk you through my process step by step. Are you ready!?! Be prepared for lots of pictures!

I started by putting Duct Tape over the entire cover of the notebook. I even partially covered the inside with tape. Then I used my hot glue gun to put little beads of glue on the tape.

Once I was done putting beads of glue where I wanted them I took as much of the little fly aways you get when using hot glue off. Then I used my heat tool to take care of the rest.

Be careful not to leave your heat tool pointed in one spot too long. It could bubble and burn the tape.

Next I put a layer of Gesso on the outside cover and let it dry. (You can speed up the drying process a little by using your heat tool) After it was dry I put another layer on and let it dry.

I used a foam brush to paint the Gesso on so I couldn't see brush strokes.

While the Gesso was drying I printed off this little Steam Punk My Bestie

Isn't she the cutest!?! These Besties are my new favorite thing! I used the Print and Cut feature on my Cricut Explore to cut her out. I seriously love that function!

I colored her skin with watercolor pencils and the rest of her with my Spectrum Noir markers.

Jumping back to the notebook cover...when the second layer of Gesso was dry I decided I wanted to add a little a little more texture to it. I did this by placing a stencil on the cover and spreading Matte Gel over the stencil with a gift card. Then carefully lifted the stencil off the cover.

More drying time...

So while that was drying I created a tag for My Bestie

I also added texture to the tag using the same process as above except this time I used my heat tool to speed up the drying. The Matte Gel dries clear. I used a tiny bit of copper paint to give the tag a little more color.

When the cover was dry I painted it copper and let it dry.

Next I sprayed it with Graphite colored Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.

I let the Glitter Mist sit for about 10 minutes and then used my heat tool to help it set. I then carefully dabbed the cover with a paper towel soaking up any excess Mist.
Voila!!! An ordinary cover turned into metal.

I placed the tag on the cover using hot glue. I left chain on the back of the tag which lifted it up off the cover giving it dimension. The flowers are adhered with hot glue also.

The gears and knobs are Tim Holtz embellishments that I purchased at Joann's. I painted the knobs copper and sprayed them with the Glimmer Mist before attaching them. All the metal embellishments are attached to the cover with E6000 Adhesive. That stuff is awesome!

Here's the inside of the cover. The paper is from a DCWV pack called Tattered Time.

I think this just might be my favorite project EVER! I will be using it to keep track of my craft to-do list, swaps and crafty challenges.

Whew! You made it to the end!

Thank you for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

The Cutting Cafe Tissue Box Cover

I am so excited about this weeks assignment for The Cutting Cafe
This week we were able to choose any file we wanted. If you've been to The Cutting Cafe you know that there is a ton of super awesome files to choose from.
I chose the Tissue Box Cover Set

Before I tell you how I made this I have a little back story...
My husband went hunting this Fall, when he got home he handed me a bunch of Birch bark.
"I brought this for you...do something cool with it." He said.
I love when he brings me goodies =)

Now to get back to the Tissue Box Cover...This file is so simple! I know, I know, I say that all the time about the files at The Cutting Cafe. That's because it's true! Regina (owner of The Cutting Cafe) has instructions that come with the files she creates. Not only that, she does "Watch Me Work Wednesday" videos with her files.

Here's the Tissue Box Cover before I decorated it.
I cut it out of chipboard with my Cricut Explore. I used the Custom setting and set it on Chipboard. I cut the top piece a little bigger than suggested so I could adhere it to the box base.
This file has 5 pieces. That's it! And it only took about an hour to make.

I used my ATG gun to attach the base pieces and hot glue to attach the top.

Then I painted it brown.

The Birch bark is really thin and easy to work with when it's dry.
I sized it against the base and then tore it by hand to fit.
I adhered it to the chipboard with hot glue.

The pine needles is garland. I got that and the pine cones from Micheal's (After Christmas Sale)

I love it!

For more inspiration from The Cutting Cafe make sure you check out the Design Team Post on the 7th and the 21st of every month. If you leave a comment on the Design Team Post you will be entered to win 3 free sets of your choice.

My Besties

Hello all! I hope you had a great Holiday Season.

I have recently discovered My Besties and I have fallen in love! My Besties are some of the cutest digi stamps ever. I love their big eyes...kinda reminds me of my 7 year old.  Sherri Baldy designs these little cuties and sells them on Etsy. There is also a My-Besties Designs Facebook Page

This is the first My Besties I have colored. I used watercolor pencils...also a first for me. I printed the digi on Simply Art watercolor paper and started coloring. To blend and smooth the colors I used a fine damp paintbrush. I really like how she turned out. You can find this digi HERE.

My daughter Kylah (the 7 year old I referenced above) also loves My Besties.

The picture below are the Besties that she colored with my copic markers.

Echo, my 3 year old, was in on the fun too.

I love it when my minis craft with me =)

Here's another Bestie I colored...I seriously cannot get over how cute these are!
You can find her HERE.

I would like to enter My Besties in the following challenge...
